Hello & a very warm welcome to Acute Football Coaching.

Everything we do at AFC is about empowering individuals & their family members. Sharing information & knowledge about safely testing, monitoring & enhancing fitness components related to health, fitness & life in general, not just football.

  • Whether you play for a team or not doesn’t matter at all to AFC.
  • There are no plans for AFC in the foreseeable future to run teams in competitive leagues.
  • Individuals who attend our sessions can focus on recording & tracking their own personal physiological & psychosocial developments over the course of a season & beyond.

The blueprint here at AFC is current, valid & reliable. The contents in our sessions are based on information directly & indirectly related to football:

  • Scientific empirical research
  • Systematic reviews
  • Meta analyses
  • Technical/tactical drills created from published scientific literature produced by top European football clubs.

Our sessions serve as a complimentary addition to both competitive football & a general healthy lifestyle.

  • Players have the opportunity to work on parts of their game that can be improved to enhance performance.
  • The majority of skills & knowledge gained from attending our sessions can also be transferred to many other areas of life outside of football.

Research developments have produced a variety of different field-testing methods & equipment for football clubs to test & monitor players throughout the season.

This enables coaching staff to plan training sessions, based on players individual fitness levels, recorded in fitness tests, training & games, maximising performance & reduce risk of injury.

The competitive season at elite level is split into 6/8-week training blocks (mesocycles) throughout the year (macrocycle), with each week represented by a microcycle. Two scientifically validated reasons help explain why this approach is very successful:

  1. It takes ~21-60 days to develop a habit in the subconscious mind
  2. Significant gains in neuromuscular & physiological adaptions are maximised

Using the English FA four-corner coaching model as a template, our aim at AFC is to focus on the physical & psychosocial aspects of football, improving quality of life.

Our sessions are contextualised by utilising the technical/tactical & social corners, creating a unique, educational, fun & enjoyable experience.

The way players recover after games & training has significantly changed over the last few decades. This is to keep up with the ever increasing demands placed on players during games & training within that time period.
